Its directors, David O'Neill and Gavin Irvine, are both members of the Institute of Acoustics and between them have over 30 years experience in the industry. We can provide a full professional acoustic design service for projects large or small- large education, arts, broadcast and mixed use developments as well as more personal schemes where we can offer a tailor-made acoustic consultancy solution. |

David O’Neill BEng MSc CEng MIOA David O’Neill was previously an Associate with Fleming & Barron and prior to that was employed by Bickerdike Allen Partners. His past experience includes planning and strategic acoustics for the Battersea Power Station project and being lead acoustic designer on BBC Leeds, Chelsea Academy, BBC White City broadcast suites, Central School of Speech and Drama Ph4, Lough Rd East housing scheme as part of the Arsenal Development and many more. He has prepared designs for schools, colleges and universities and for flats, offices, studios and auditoria. David lives in Bristol and likes working best when collaborating with architects and designers to resolve those tricky problems. |
Gavin Irvine BSc MIOA Before setting up ION Acoustics Gavin worked for Fleming & Barron and Bickerdike Allen Partners as well as providing freelance consultancy for Hayes McKenzie, Buro Happold and others. He has also worked for Marshall Day Associates in New Zealand and Brüel & Kjær in Denmark and has assessed construction noise for large transportation schemes such as Thameslink 2000 and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL). He has recently been responsible for acoustic design work of several schools and academies, preparing noise impact assessments for wind farms and been involved in refurbishment work at several theatres. Gavin lives in Bath and although he is adept at discussing the intricacies of detailing with architects, he also likes getting his boots on and setting up noise monitors for wind farms in the wilds of Wales. |
